2018 Introduction: Kindle the Fire

Hi! Most of you know me but I thought I should do a little introduction if someone who doesn’t know me as well needs some background! 🙂 I am a wife, mother, daughter employee, friend, and Daughter of God. Much like you, I live a normal life of working 8-5 and deal with the hustle and bustle of life. I have a beautiful wife who epitomizes love. She has helped me create a space of growth, vulnerability, and strength. I have two amazing kids. A daughter who is 13 who teaches me daily with her sweet nature, to always be kind. A son who is 8 that teaches me to play and have fun. I co-parent with two great individuals who love and care about my kids. We are a divorced family but we would never allow that to hinder the growth of these two amazing kids God has bless us with. I love to read, learn and be active. If there is any sports going on, I love to be involved. P.S. I love the Baltimore Ravens!

You know that nag in the back of your mind, the one that often you silence or ignore? Maybe it’s taking a new class, finishing a project or enrolling in a yoga class. It’s the nag that stretches you and allows you to appreciate a new space in your life. It’s one that you know you will appreciate if you just do it! Well… I have had one of these nags all of my life and I am finally ready to embrace it in 2018.

For most of my life, I have always said I wanted to write. Limitation, excuses and fears have stopped me from starting a blog (Other than fun family blogs I have done in the past). I have always joked that I couldn’t spell so I couldn’t write (that’s what spell check is for), or I have said I was too busy. We all are busy. Writing brings me joy, and learning with other makes me happy. I attended a Celebration of Life with my family yesterday and realized how much our gifts can influence those we come in contact with.
So I face 2018 with a shift. I am committed to writing. I am not allowing perfectionism to limit me. I am fully embracing, that if there is a word or sentence that is not grammatically correct, the message is more important than the structure. AS Gestalt states; “the whole is greater than its parts.” My intention of this Blog is to create space where our thoughts and growth can take fire. That we can grow together and kindle the fire that lives in each of us already. Lets create a space where we grow together.
I pray this space is a place where others can share what they know and have learned. I know full well that vulnerability will be a key part of this process. I create this space for others to speak their truth along with me. MY hope is all of us together can learn and grow.

This blog will touch on many topics. It will be a space for laughter, thoughts, insights, and maybe even tears. The topics will be shared in hopes to create connection.  I will write of goals, books, movies, and learning to connect with one another in a world that focuses on differences rather than similarities. Connection, love, pain, sadness, happiness, and faith is something we all can relate to. Each topic may not look the same to everyone but ultimately deep down it truly is all the same. We will talk about the relationship we have with ourselves. Until we are real about our relationships with ourselves, our relationships with others are hindered.

The year of 2018 is a big year! Energetically I feel it. Growth is part of the year, whatever that looks like for each of us. I look forward to walking this journey with whoever comes along. I am excited to continue to connect with old and find new connections that can guide this process in the journey ahead.

Looking forward to the days ahead…. while EMBRACING today!
